Michael T. Heneise is an anthropologist of Himalaya and South Asia, and presently Associate Professor in the Department of Archaeology, History, and Religious Studies at UiT The Arctic University of Norway. He leads the Ekologos - Global Environmental Humanities initiative, and is an active member of the Interdisciplinary Phenomenology and Religion and Wellbeing research groups. He was the founding director of the Highland Institute, Nagaland (2013-2022), and continues to operate the institute’s independent academic Highlander Press. He is also co-editor of Highlander Journal as well as HIMALAYA, the Journal of the Association for Nepal and Himalayan Studies.
